Ice Dam Solution for Summit Park Family, Park City Utah
This Summit Park Family has suffered with ice dam problems for years. The first attempt to solve the problems they encounter every winter was to install Heat Cable. After a few winters of having the cable get ripped off by ice each spring they installed Thermal Technoligies T-Panel system (A product similar in design and function to the Bylin RIM “Roof Ice Melt” System). The results where that the ice dam formed above the 10″ melt area and caused over $5,000 damage to the deck and hand rails.
This spring they contacted Sol-Ice Building Integrated Solutions. They where sceptical of any solution but after looking through our Web Site and cheking out some of the videos on our You Tube Channel they chose to go with the Sol-Ice SubDynoMelt product which installs under the shingles.
Joseph Lambert of Xcellence was brought in to provide the installation and made sure that the owners where happy with everything that was done. Joseph and his team are very conscious of the needs of the building owners.

Energy Efficient Ice Dam Solutions – Sol-Ice Video
Utah Metal Roofing is proud of our relationship with Sol-Ice. This testimonial from one of the Sol-Ice ProHydroMelt system clinets shows what we likes about the products. This job was installed by Nielco Roofing on a home in the Glenwild development, Park City Utah. ProHydroMelt is a semi concealed hydronic ice dam solution that helps to create more efficient heat transfer than standard heat cable or even extruded aluminum systems like Bylin’s RIM Systems (Roof Ice Melt), Thermal Technologies T-Zone and T-Panel systems, Disco and Associates Heat Trace Systems, as well as the heat mat systems like Warmzone and Heatizon.
All Sol-Ice systems are completely enclosed and protected by the roofing which helps them last longer. Since there is no UV damage from the sun and the heat cable does not get ripped off the roof in the spring by sliding ice and snow this is a superior solution to heat cable. This system has been used successfully on the Montage Resort Deer Valley (in Empire Pass) as well as on the larkspur Condos and Arrowleaf condos in Empire Pass.
Sol-Ice Enginereed Systems Authorized Installers have 6 total systems in the Colony (A gated ski in ski out development next to the Canyons Ski Resort) With systems all over Park City and the Salt Lake Valley Sol-Ice has proved in the last 4 years that this is the best solution for ice dams.
Sol-Ice Engineered Systems (A Park City Utah Company) has solutions for every condition in snow country, from their patent pending Hydronic ice dam solution SubHydroMelt, their Building Integrated Electric ice dam solution SubDynoMelt, Building Integrated Solar Thermal “BIST” product SubSolarThermal, PV/T Photovoltaic Solar Thermal Hybrid system CoSolarThermal and the Custom made Alpine Snow Guards DiamondSnowStops (Made from the same sheet metal as your roof so they match exactly every time. Always Kynar 500/Hylar 5000 coated with sheet good from companies like Drexel Metal, Sheffield Sheet Metal, Fabral Sheet Metal, MBCI, Coated Metals Group or any of the smaller companies that provide sheet goods. The Sol-Ice ClamponSnowStops uses the famous S-5 Clip to connect to the ribs of a standing seam metal roof for a zero penetration design.
